The Ordinary and the Not so Ordinary...

Just a little bit of what we've been up to the last few months:

*Ashlyn learns to ride a bike without training wheels and surprises us all
*Attending Braden's weekly basketball games & practices
*Visit from Grandpa Ken and Grandma Julie from Iowa
*Elise and I fly to Kansas City to visit my siblings and their families
*Stayed in a beautiful beach house at Cannon Beach with Sheldon's side of the family for spring break
*Weekly hang out day and piano lessons with Nana J and Papa
*Elise turns 2
*Lots of learning, playing, laughing, crying, and growing

Braden's Project

After our trip to Disneyland, the kids love to reminisce about all their favorite rides, one of them being the Tower of Terror! Braden made this mini Tower or Terror for his toy chipmunk. This was completely his project! He came up with it, made the video on his own, and told me he REALLY wanted me to post it on the blog so others could see it.

So here it is:

Our Volcano Project

Braden got a science volcano kit for his birthday (thanks Jon and Kristin)! Instantly, my teacher minded brain got excited about incorporating the kit with teaching a whole unit about volcanoes for our homeschool science (I wouldn't want to miss a teaching opportunity)! We headed to the library to check out a stack of volcano books and immersed ourselves into a two week study of volcanoes. The kids even made their very own lapbooks to share some of what they have learned! It was a BLAST!

Here is the video clip of the kids showing off their volcano lapbooks!

Thanks Jon and Kristin for the volcano making kit! As you can see it inspired me, and the kids learned alot!
